It IS their history to be honest. I've used Mobil1 EP for decades with no complaints.and why is that? is it the new leaf spring issues or because “fram is junk” from the orange can days? i urge you research boss/mobil 1 efficiency data.

just because it hasn’t blown up doesn’t mean there isn't issues. i urge you to look outside of the history and educate yourself. It IS their history to be honest. I've used Mobil1 EP for decades with no complaints.
There are many people that have used Fram orange cans without complaints as well? Use whatever works for you. He has UOA to back it up.It IS their history to be honest. I've used Mobil1 EP for decades with no complaints.
I will. They (FRAM) have such a bad reputation. I'll check them out againjust because it hasn’t blown up doesn’t mean there isn't issues. i urge you to look outside of the history and educate yourself.
I'll do some research. There are many people that have used Fram orange cans without complaints as well? Use whatever works for you. He has UOA to back it up.
Thanks for the info. I'll stick with my Mobil1 EP and BOSS FiltersMobil 1 filters and the Boss are currently built by M+H. No thank you…
When Mobil 1 oil filters were good they were built by Champ Labs, the current maker of the Fram Endurance.
Every car in your signature would benefit from a 5k oil change.Unless the 12,500 miles was mostly highway miles , I’d be changing a 9 qrt oil engine capacity oil every 10K mile / 12 month OCI and then consider I got my money’s worth on the oil filter and oil with a cleaner engine the result . Just because someone said or you were told you could go longer on the oil doesn’t mean you should . Besides , I like to get under a vehicle to check for any leaks and do a general inspection underneath for anything out of place (at least once year in your case) .
History changes pretty fast in the oil filter world. It IS their history to be honest.
You must have missed the hay days of the OG Fram Ultra and Titanium.I will. They (FRAM) have such a bad reputation. I'll check them out again
Good choice if you don't really care about efficiency ... and some don't which is fine. "Reputation" of a product can be either good or bad depending on what direction the product goes after that reputation was created. Thanks for the info. I'll stick with my Mobil1 EP and BOSS Filters
I'm not so active these days to check the UOA section of the forums but I found it, thanks.it’s on the two UOA’s i’ve posted on here. the first is a 21’ chevrolet 5.3L after 12k on HPL PCEO, the other is this F150 at 12k on HPL PCEO.
What was the mileage on that OCI? If the leaf spring was a decent leaker, the oil cleanliness is going to get worse as the OCI is increased compared to if it wasn't leaking dirty oil past the media. With the ISO Cleanliness Code reading at 22/21/18 doesn't seem so impressive for a filter that is rated for 25K miles. WearCheck is noting the particle contamination numbers are at abnormal levels across the entire range of micron size.
This probably aligns with the poor leaf spring sealing everyone been talking about lately here.
I believe he said 12k oci with HPL. I’m also wondering if this is a good example of a leaky Endurance? Admittedly I’m not familiar with particle count interpretation. What was the mileage on that OCI? If the leaf spring was a decent leaker, the oil cleanliness is going to get worse as the OCI is increased compared to if it wasn't leaking dirty oil past the media.
Yes, I don't care much about splitting hairs on efficiency. I want a filter that can perform long term and perform well. I am a Mobil1 fanboy from waaayyy back when.Good choice if you don't really care about efficiency ... and some don't which is fine. Nothing wrong with M1 especially the EP line! If the louvers are open on the Boss and your happy with the efficiency and price that’s a winning combination imo.Yes, I don't care much about splitting hairs on efficiency. Thier EP products keep my cars going hundreds of thousands of miles issue free.
No doubt. I've never seen any issue with the cartridge Frams I've run. Their efficiency is tops. Even the plain Jane Extra Guard beats the snot out of most filters in terms of efficiency.and why is that? is it the new leaf spring issues or because “fram is junk” from the orange can days? i urge you research boss/mobil 1 efficiency data.
There are some fantastic oils out there to choose from. Great oil filters too.Nothing wrong with M1 especially the EP line! If the louvers are open on the Boss and your happy with the efficiency and price that’s a winning combination imo.
