Looks to be pretty much the same as the PH9688 that Walmart sells except for no black grippy stuff .

Looks like a notch of some sort. Possibly intentionalNobody saw what I did in that last picture? That looks way off.
What is that small metallic part at the 5:30 mark?

Just to make sure we are looking at the same thing, it’s between the outlet hole and the inlets at the 5:30 o’clock position. Looks like a chunk of metal.
Maybe wemay was slightly off center when he took that picture but that inlet part of the base is off center from around 7 o’clock to 12. I’ve been fooled by these photos before.
This looks like ST9688 for 50% more cost. If you look at the wording on the rating it says "for over 7,500 miles" so it sounds like they are marketing this as a entry level filter trying to downplay the longevity. No micron rating either.
I'd say excepting the orange paint and Fram moniker, identical to ST9688. In other words a First Brands "Fram" made by Champ Labs. FB spreading some manufacturing to Champ using Fram name. This looks like ST9688 for 50% more cost. ....
I really couldn't say. I was there for some Mobil 1 oil and just so happened to see the FRAM DRIVE as the replacement for the Purolators, so don't have that filter in hand and don't remember the notch. Sorry guys.Just to make sure we are looking at the same thing, it’s between the outlet hole and the inlets at the 5:30 o’clock position. Looks like a chunk of metal.

Looks like a piece of debris, maybe a piece of metal. Always inspect and clean oil filters before installing, regardless of brand or model.
