PH9688 is $5.78 at my local Walmart. With the known issues with Hyundai/Kia startup noises, I would pay the extra for the silicone ADBV.

If your engine makes no startup rattle, then use that Drive filter.

Since Hyundai/Kia owners should consider their severe service intervals, is silicone really needed for the 3000 or 3750 interval? Its for the owner to decide.

Super Tech is $2.97, made by the same company and looks the same. Maybe there are some small differences in specs. Fram owns a lot of shelf now in the stores.

Looks like a notch of some sort. Possibly intentional

Just to make sure we are looking at the same thing, it’s between the outlet hole and the inlets at the 5:30 o’clock position. Looks like a chunk of metal.

Maybe wemay was slightly off center when he took that picture but that inlet part of the base is off center from around 7 o’clock to 12. I’ve been fooled by these photos before.

This looks like ST9688 for 50% more cost. If you look at the wording on the rating it says "for over 7,500 miles" so it sounds like they are marketing this as a entry level filter trying to downplay the longevity. No micron rating either.

FRAM states a "average" 98%+ efficiency at 20 microns

I really couldn't say. I was there for some Mobil 1 oil and just so happened to see the FRAM DRIVE as the replacement for the Purolators, so don't have that filter in hand and don't remember the notch. Sorry guys.
