This came off of a vehicle that I serviced regularly but I did not have time the last time they needed an oil change so they took it to Walmart and apparently this is what was put on it. 2010 Ford escape approximately 5000 miles.

The wide pleat as seen in the picture was separating slightly from one of the end caps but not to a point where I think there would’ve been significant oil flow past the filter element itself so not very worrying to me. Thoughts?

Looks completely serviceable for a 5000 mile oil change interval.

Nice metal crimp, what's the core filters, Are these shop grade installer filters?

I just don't like when the wide pleats pull down the endcaps like that one did, looks like a potential full-time bypass possibility.
Yeah, those few pleats are too wide but the meida didn't tear which is a good thing. It may seem like the pulled down end cap would cause it to bypass, but if the leaf spring is stiff enough it should still be holding all the guts tight together on the end caps around the center tube circumference. That's the impression you always see on the end caps around the center tube circumference.

Is Core the shop or "pro" version of Fram? Like the Purolatot Tech? I have a Fram Force currently on my Explorer. We'll see how it holds.

A little late to this one. Guess the best I can say is it survived the 5k mi fci, ("was separating slightly from one of the end caps") 'sort of.' There's have been a couple orange can wide pleat spacing tears at the endcap anecdotes posted here not long ago. Pleat in pic #2, ugly. The rest looks ok, and a real silicone adbv. Used by WM ACC/TLE.

Since Fram Force mentioned, I see AAP/Fram is using the same name for the texture surface as they used on the old red Puro made AAP "Total Grip" filter.

Thanks for c&p.
