Fram 9018 pic

I picked up this filter with 5 quarts of oil at a local auto parts chain. They only stock Fram filters. I will be using this filter in my friends Saturn ION. I used Napa Gold, Napa ProSelect, PureOne, K&N, Hengst in the past. They all look the same after the OCI in the Ecotec.

This Fram is made in China. The ones in the past were made in Bulgaria for Fram. I always noticed the Fram cartridge filters are always close to the $10.00 range in stores. That is one reason I never buy Fram cartridge filters. I picked this one up for $5.99, and it included the gasket.

It looks well made. I'm not up on cartridge filters, as none of my vehicles use them.

I have no problems using the Fram cartridge filters. The ones I use for the Highlander are made in Israel I believe.

Doesn't really look any different than other filters for this application, not concidering the K&N of course. I like that it has the flat end caps as opposed to the bucket style. I was looking at one last night and I think there is actually more to the center cage than the last Wix I used.
Has anyone used or even seen the Tough Guard version?

Found one! Not sure it's much different than the Extra Guard or worth the extra cost. Media doesn't look different and didn't seem to be any more pleats...

Fram cartridge filters for Ecotecs are fine.

Don't think that Fram is the only one who charges more for cartridge filters. AC Delco and Purolater do the same thing.

Some auto parts stores will have a "Buy 5 quarts of oil and with any filter for $__.__ sales." That is where you can save money on common cartridge filters

Wow that Fram looks good! If only they would make their spin on filters that nice. Impressed and I hate saying it.

Ya I realize that the cartridges are more expesive, I was reffering to the extra cost of the Tough Guard over the Extra Guard...$12 vs $9 I think...they really didn't seem any different other than the colour of the plastic.

Yep me too but lots don't mind their cartridges.

The part I hate to admit is I got so excited I bought a TG can for the G6 as well!
