No evidence I have seen yet that the wavey leaf spring causes a leak in the fiber endcap filters.

I hope you’re right, and that would be a good thing, but it’s about QC imo.

How so?
Pleats are decent. Silicone ADBV. Metal crimped joint. No discernable ripples on the spring.

That element just looks sad. The pleats are uneven and wavy, I never liked that crimp and those endcaps are pathetic. There are better quality filters out there.

Seen a lot worse wavy pleats than on this filter - including other filter brands. The metal crimped seam is a good method ... many have gone away from the metal crimp to "crimp" on production cost.

Do you remove and dump out the old oil before reuse?
