Just because - maybe pick up an extra to keep spare somewhere. Not for just lost but one person I know had the spline socket break trying to get the heavy impacted lug nuts off. Yup that happened roadside to him on a trip. After finally getting them off a day later when stores opened he said F that, let them steal them and put regular lugs back on.

Good idea, hadn't considered the possibility. I hesitated to put the locks on in the first place but when I bought the car in 2011, Honda Fit alloys seemed to be targeted frequently since they are four lugs that fit on souped up old civics. Wondering if that's still the case in 2025.

Did about 600mi this weekend while skiing. First impressions are that the Vredestein Quatracs are incredibly comfortable. Much quieter than the Michelin Premiers they replaced. Noticed the difference on the grooved pitted concrete on the way up to Tahoe. Usually get a loud hum from that. Also much softer on bumps and potholes. Dry traction was good on the twisties up and down the mountains but didn’t exactly push them to the limit. Wasn’t much snow on the roads at this point in the season to test out the snow and ice traction. Will have to try that next season.
The Vredesteins worked well for me on my van.
