Was browsing the oil aisle and this oily filthy box caught my eye,so I opened it up and saw this. What a shame! I guess people really do return used filters:

How much is a Motorcraft oil filter, $3.xx ? Why driving to/from WM to return an used oil filter to pocket $4 and spent $5 for gas ? What are those people thinking ?

Right.

They're not thinking, that's the problem.

I'll bet the media was dry inside, and it was just greasy from them trying to install it when it was the wrong filter?

Some return used oil too. Laments those little silver things you have to remove to use the oil.

I found a Fram ToughGuard filter box that had an OCOD in it behind some items in the clearance section once. What's the point? Don't ToughGuard filters just have some more filtering media and some sort of high-mileage goo inside, or am I mixing something up?

I got a supertech filter out one day in the middle of an oil change and could tell it had been used. Tossed it into the trash and drove to wally world bought a new filter and installed.

I always check filters before I buy them just to check for metal shavings etc. With my luck the one time I didn't check was the time that it would have really paid off.

My BIL works at a Walmart and confirms all the stories of people returning used oil, shoes all worn out and even DOG FOOD. He found a bag of dog food returned that had been resealed up...there was SAND in it.

We have reached the bottom as a society I am afraid!

They probably thinking can return the used one when they go and shop there

People of Walmart.... Walmart attracts them.

Comment: I know times maybe difficult for some but this is downright pathetic. AAP has DriveWorks filters for less than $3. This is totally sick, returning a used filter.

That wouldn't surprise me either. Adding insult to injury is the fact that greasy box and filter actually made it back to the shelf..

^Now, THAT is what is disturbing.

was looking sunday after work at walmart, found a bottle of opened M1 Synthetic 5w-20 full of what I call wet used oil, aka leave your drainpan in the rain, open, and drain it, a snotty looking white goo that has the consistency of Napalm, I took it to the front, lady was like "Oh you got a return???" I was like "Uh no this was on your shelf?"

Funny, people return stuff like this and it bypasses a number of hands to make it back on the shelf.

And its also funny to know people can get away with going through the store, picking it up, going to the service desk, and returning it...
