Finally, I stumbled across someone in my area that sells Wolf's Head! I had to run to our local Napa to pick a part up for work and saw they had Wolf's Head synthetic ATF. I asked if he could order their engine oil in for me and he said he actually had some in back, so after work I stopped back in and picked up a case of their 5w-20. I'm excited. I reallize its probably not gonna be the best stuff in the world, but I do wanna switch to dino in my jeep eventually, but I do wanna give PU a try first my next oil change. I also have 6qts. of Havoline 5w-20 to use up as well. But I change my oil every 5,000-6,000miles since I grease my front end and rotate my tires at that time anyways, so I figure it really doesn't pay to use synthetic anymore.

and I enjoy trying stuff that isn't your run of the mill, so I decided I wanted to try running wolfs head exclusivly and see how it performs and see if it keeps my engine reasonably clean. Got it for $2.19 a qt. too, didn't think that was all that bad.

I share your affinity for the novel, but Wolf's Head isn't that special. If you want novel in that its truly unique, try and find some Brad Penn. They don't make a 20 weight however AFAIK.

Wolf's Head is a very good oil. Many people don't give it credit as its availability is scarce but its very good. I've used it for some 50k+ miles in my 94 Wrangler with very good results and the price was reasonable.

Now I had at one point stated I would do a VOA on it but i'm in a financial rutt due to work and health care issues but I can nab a quart for free from a buddy who's a mechanic and if someone else is near by North Jersey id pass it off for them to do the VOA.

Brad Penn I actually could get if I wanted too. We work on the trucks for a local place that is a distributor for them and Castrol products. They supply us with Castrol's bulk 15w-40 for out in the shop. The really upsetting thing is, I have a Gulf station a block away from me, and i though, great, i can try their stuff too (pretty much the same as Brad Penn from what I've heard) but they only have Pennzoil YB....go figure.

yeah, I wanted to get a voa of it too, but I'm pretty strapped myself. I definately wanna get a UOA of it once I've changed oil with the stuff a couple times.

Brad Penn makes 5w20. I got a case of it in my garage. I havent tried it yet. I bought it as novety oil too. Last of the Pennsylvania crude. I bought it from a supplier, I think I got off here. It was like $32 a case delivered, But I bought it a couple years ago.

I remember seeing it in Sam's a few years ago. I actually bought two cases of their DexIII/Merc ATF there. Who owns Wolf's Head now, anyone know?

Yep. And I can get both the dino and synthetic versions, and the Syn ATF.

That's funny - I always figured Wolf's Head was bottom-shelf stuff. It's everywhere around here - it's what they sell at grocery stores.

I'd be interested to know who you got it from.

LOL!! That scared the crop out of me!

Hey, they make a Dex VI! Very interesting! Wonder what's the price.

afoulk: Wolfshead is no where the quailty of Havoline its made by Petroleum Packers in Tampa FL. I think $2.19 a quart is too high for this stuff...I just paid $1.58 a quart for Napa 5w20 and 5w30 made by Valvoline . If you use this stuff dont go more then 4,000 miles on it. This Co. makes a lot of non-additive engine oils.

And what proof do you have of this again?

lexus114... if you think Wolfshead is as good as Havoline you have wasted a lot of time on this site. Havoline uses a MUCH better additive package.

That wasnt my question. Why do people have to get so defensive these day`s?
