Found a rebuilt-in-USA rebuilt PS pump

Turns out there's a rebuilt-in-USA power steering pump available for my numb and whining Buick's power steering, so I got it. It ended up being $20 more than the redone in Mexico part. After eyeballing and rotating them in the store, the US-done part was smoother rotating and didn't have paint oversprayed into bearing areas like the Mexican-done part did.

As for why I didn't get a junkyard part, my time is worth more buying a redone in USA PS pump for $50 than pulling my own at a yard for $20. Plus the little issue of gas money getting to the yard, and the redone pump having a much nicer warranty that I'll likely end up using.

I have a rebuilt in USA power steering pump for my buick. I did it myself

bought a Durlast seal kit for $7 dollars at autozone. Its a hydraulics component the have very little ware wear.All i needed was a nail, hammer,and a screw driver and the internet.I can put one together in 15 minutes now. It was stupid easy compared to what I expected and amazingly simple in the inside, which leads me to believe that most of the power steering sounds come from the rack in pinion itself and the addition of fresh fluid quiets it down. But I could be wrong.

But all the money I saved I lost because some how I cross threaded all of my lug nuts onto the wheel studs and set my self back $100.

I honestly don't know how it happened.

I don't know that I'd buy a Cardone. I've heard too many complaints.

I agree, I rather pay $50 for a well rebuilt PSP in USA than driving to a junkyard to pull a used one from a salvage car, which you don't know the condition. The time and effort is not worth the $30 that you may save.

We have had horrible experiences with Cardone and ATSCO stuff.
Multiple failures,painted over dirt,bad seals,cheap boots and clamps,missing electrical covers you name it.

Motorcraft and AC Delco seem to have kept the quality up on rebuilt products,they look and perform like new,high quality parts.They usually have a $50-75 premium on something like a rack and pinion but are well worth it.

It's a Fenco (aka Fenwick Automotive Products) PS pump that came without the reservoir. Fine by me, the GM factory reservoir on my Buick is in good condition.

The cheaper Fenco looked terrible in comparison. Areas where old paint had flaked off were visible under the new paint. Plus having a bind turning it by hand while still in the box completely turned me against the cheaper reman. unit.

I got a cardone steering gearbox for my jeep a year ago and it was rebuilt in phoenix arizona.
