From Blackstone Laboratories:
"This oil from your 2.3L Mercedes engine is so clean, it almost looks unused. If you haven't thrown it away, maybe you should start selling it to the neighbors! That, or just run it longer. The universal averages column shows typical wear from this type of engine after 4200 miles on the oil. Your oil was run nearly 3000 miles, and wear is mostly well below averages. Copper, from a bronze bushing or brass part, was slightly high but certainly not high enough to call a problem or get worried about. We did find some fuel, but it's probably from city driving & not a problem."

This is my first oil report. Any ideas about the copper levels? Thanks.

Really great report. Not familiar with the source of copper on this engine. Did you have any work done on it lately?? Great report.

Birdsboro brings back memories. I was raised on Oley Turnpike near Jacksonwald. I graduated from E.H.S. in '64. I took dad back and forth many times so I could have the car. He worked at Titus Station.

No work ever on this engine, except I replaced the timing chain tensioner assy. this spring as a preventive maintaince item. Its just a new spring and plunger assy. that drops in. You probably remember that hamburger joint on Perkeomin Ave!

Shell Formula 30wt. mono grade, SL catagory as listed on the Shell USA site. I also added 5 oz. of Valvoline SynPower Oil Treatment to the original 5 quarts of oil used. This is the $0.59 oil Pep Boys was selling with rebates. Any other questions and I'll be happy to reply.

What was the temp range this oil was used in? Just during the hot months?

Yes, I just drained it 2 weeks ago. We had a pretty hot summer here in Pa. I just felt like running 30wt. over the summer just to see how the car liked it.

I would not consider the copper high. I think they needed something to say and this is the only item that was slightly more than average.
It is an excellent UOA but then only 3000 miles this is what one would expect.
