Foreign substance in Donaldson filter.

Howdy, I have a Donaldson P502503 and I have had several of them come with this inside of them. It looks to be like a black sticky substance on the bottom of the filter, I usually return them and make them give me new ones and I pick the ones that don’t have this. Is this normal? Would yall put this on your engine?

Can't really tell what you're pointing out. If you're talking about the black potting material around the circumference at the bottom of the center tube, that's normal.

The black dot on the middle on the top of the bypass. Some of the filters have it and some don’t. Sorry it’s hard to get a good picture of it.

That white marking in the enter on top of the bypass valve assembly is just a Q.A. marking that Donaldson does to all of their filters.
Here is one example on another Donaldson filter I got long ago.

Thank you for this. I thought it was weird at first, never noticed it before and just wanted to make sure! Will definitely not worry about it anymore.
