I do not believe that for a single second. The article quoted THREE ANONYMOUS people.

You could quote three people from my staff and they would not have the entire big picture.

So they’re killing a whole bunch of profitable products for no reason?

Truck and truck-based SUVs have only so far to run...
Gas is at $60/barrel if it goes to $90/barrel, Ford will go to Washington asking for money. Mark my word.

TSLA will bury the big 3 in my lifetime, nothing will fix these big 3 companies, they are done!!!

I believe they are looking to eliminate an immense amount of costly and expensive labor positions.

Marked.

$100/barrel will never happen. Too much oil in North America and with the technologies advancing around increased fuel economy, wind, solar - the days of fossil fuels are numbered.

Also marked.

Ford tends to focus on whatever they are selling a lot of at the moment, and it does seem to work for them a lot of the time. The Ranger outsold the Camry in 1998 and didn't even offer rear doors or real rear seats, by 2012 it was discontinued. Now it's coming back, along with something that will be called a Bronco, and the sedans are gone. That's Ford.

They can switch back to sedans easily enough if they need to. They are still going to be building and selling cars, they are just all wagons now (AKA crossovers) except for the Mustang.

TSLA is a shell company of Musk. It’s on the verge going going out itself.

It makes me sad, but it's the market.

Same here with my ST (but I ordered mine).

I always said this will be the last vehicle I ever own, or at least buy new.
Ford just helped make that a reality on their part.

It will probably take $10.00/gallon+ for regular to get most 'Murricans out of their land yachts.

Yes but the underlying thought is this; why the sudden knee jerk move now? Production could have been managed and models discontinued at a measured pace. This situation has been going on for years now. Obviously Ford management has been asleep at the wheel. Now with this news you will have massive layoffs and idle production lines. GovMo is next as Mary Barra has been selling interests overseas.

I see suggestions Honda and Toyota have cars figured out. Accord sales are tanking right now, despite being a brand new and excellent car. The Fit is way down too.

Yaris is selling horribly, Prius is way down, Corolla is way down, 86 is way down and even the brand new Camry lost sales in March ‘18 vs ‘17. That shouldn’t be happening with a brand new model.

Some of these cars are next...

The writing was on the wall. Just look at the sales for the last few years, they've been declining on all their cars.

http://carsalesbase.com/us-car-sales-data/ford/

Fiesta sold 46k in 2017. Fusion 209k in 2017, at it's height in 2014, 306k. C-max 18k. Focus 158k. Taurus 41k. Mustang 81k.

As for the F series? 896k, up from 820k in 2016.

Seems like the new Active is the replacement for the Focus. I'm somewhat surprised that they're keeping the Focus going when the Fusion outsells Focus. But I guess maybe it makes sense if that's in other markets and the Fusion isn't.

Yes and Honda had already cut production of the Accord some time back. But it’s true, sedans are not selling regardless of make.

I'm surprised to see the Fusion go too. The Focus Active appears to be a Crosstrek/Caliber type crossover.

No actual dates of when they will be discontinued was announced. Fusion will still be around for a couple more years, but no new models means they're just going to keep the old one around until it's too old.

Hmm, and when I posted yesterday that I was peeved because of Ford's shady practices with killing features that were purchased, many were quite snobbish with me. But now, when Ford is simply removing your ability to buy their cars (and you've got no skin in the game), all of a sudden the mouthpieces are chattering.
