We have some V10 Ford pickups in the fleet and I'm wondering how the PCV valves are supposed to work. They have a 2-lead electronics connector on them, which shows me continuity (0 impedance), and the valve does not restrict airflow in either direction despite it rattling like a 'normal' PCV valve should. Is this 'normal' function for these, or does this one need replacement?

i think those are just heated PCV valves.

Does this PCV valve have three small vacuum hoses on it? It may not be the PCV but a vacuum relay picking up Throttle valve vacuum or dumping atmospheric pressure.
Negative. It appears to be a fairly standard PCV valve, though it's a little long and has no spring I can find. Completely plastic exterior. Approximately 1/4-turn to remove.
I wonder what the wires are for? I only looked with an analog meter, so there could be a SMALL impedance, but it surely looks like 0. At first I thought it was a coil pack/solenoid to operate the valve electronically rather than with a spring. Is that even reasonable to do?
P.S. I didn't take this thing off, my shop guys did, so I can't describe its location or anything.

What's the advantage of a heated PCV valve?
not sure, make people go back to the dealer for the part. one of our drivability techs tried to explain it to me once, but there were butterflies behind him that were more interesting.

i was told it is to help keep moisture and acid content down in the oil.
