I thought religion was taboo around here.
I mean it obviously exists. I drove it to lunch today. I think... Maybe I imagined that.Sure. Based on what vaporware smoke and mirrors?
Tesla is the most valuable car company in the world, and growing.
I hate to break it to you, but EV's are, and always will be limited to a very small percentage of the automotive public. There are simply too many expensive obstacles that have yet to be overcome.
This whole "just around the corner" philosophy is well intentioned nonsense. Nothing more.
Let's be fair, this can not at the present time stand on its own two feet being taxpayers are paying $7,500 for someone to buy an EV instead of an ICE vehicle.
But all is good, there is plenty of demand and a significant portion of the population will like to have one in their driveway but the results are skewed as long as taxpayers foot a significant amount of the price tag.
We really do not know the long term or near term full story until at least 10 percent of vehicles on the road are EVs and taxpayers stop paying for others to buy them.
Absolutely agree. We certainly do need to invest in more solid carbon-to-electricity conversion plants to power these EVs. We also need to limit imports of rare earth products and photovoltaics from one specific country, perhaps banning imports of those specific products outright from that monopolilistic state. Invest in America. We're spending them either way.
Right now they come in the form of national debt to the military industrial complex and subsidy to the oil companies.
Where would you rather invest - in our own country, or others?
Which part is the religion? Hating all electric cars because they don't run on processed dinosaur juice? I don't understand what makes Tesla vaporware. Certain models? Sure the Cybertruck and Roadster may never happen. The other cars are selling and selling well. There are plenty of vaporware companies out there that haven't produced and delivered a single car to anyone. The Tesla in my garage exists just the same as the VW next to it.I thought religion was taboo around here.
I would put that survey into the same can this one ended up in.
Of course you would.I would put that survey into the same can this one ended up in.

Sure sounds like it says they would consider it. Not that they were going to buy one. That's what the word may tends to mean. Although it could just mean that the crowd that is loud about EVs being the end of the world is smaller than you think.I would put that survey into the same can this one ended up in.

The equivalent today would be the government to invest in a better electrical grid, so we could charge them, or fund darpa to come up with a better battery everyone could use. Not hand out money to the rich people buying the actual car who would likely buy one anyway. It simply ends up as an additional $7500 in margin for the OEM. Its not the same as building roads in 1913.Governments invested huge amounts of money making roads and infrastructure for this new unproven technology back then,
I wish I could participate in one of those would you buy an EV survey. I'm sure the EV lovers would toss my survey in the trash.I would put that survey into the same can this one ended up in.

Oh, please. The entire DOD budget is less than 16% of Federal spending, so spare us the conspiracy theory/political slant on Federal budgeting. We're spending them either way.

If you're referring to the world's tallest building in Dubai, you are leaving out one small detail. The U.A.E. is soaked with cash. We're not. Stupid as it may be, they can afford to build skyscrapers and refrigerated ski slopes in the desert.Aren't we better off spending these trillions building our our own infrastructure or are we better off buying mile high skyscrapers in the desert ?

Their entire national debt is only 51% of their total GDP of just one year. Compare that to our national debt of $33 TRILLION, that is increasing by TRILLIONS more every year. All with no current plan to break even, let alone pay it off because we ran a continual deficit that does nothing but grow.
If we had Dubai's cash and lack of debt, sure, we can screw with government subsidised EV's, charging stations, buying bonuses for consumers, and everything else.
Dubai is constantly updating their power requirements by adding new everything as they expand. We can't even fix what we currently have.... All of which is in horrible disrepair. Because there is no money to fix it with.
We are currently trying to extend our debt ceiling yet again. All because we waste so much money. Dubai has it to waste. We don't. We don't even have it to spend, unless we print it..... While they pump it through a meter that rains cash on them.
Agreed, but there are adjusted income limits:The equivalent today would be the government to invest in a better electrical grid, so we could charge them, or fund darpa to come up with a better battery everyone could use. Gee, what products do the UAE produce? Just who is buying all that sand, or whatever it is they sell to be so dang wealthy? If you're referring to the world's tallest building in Dubai, you are leaving out one small detail. That's funny considering I think there's maybe 3 people here who like him.Its all good, we no longer need to go to church we can buy one of these and worship from home.
