Ford Halts Lightning Production for Battery Issues

This just came out a little while ago. Ford is suspending production of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup for another week following a battery issue that resulted in one of the vehicles catching fire. Ford said Friday its battery supplier, SK, has started building battery cells again at a plant in Georgia but it will take time “to ensure they are back to building high-quality cells and to deliver them to the Lightning production line.” CNBC News Not ready for prime time IMO.....

Feels like a bad dream. Freakin' nighmare for the company that taught the world how to mass produce vehicles and gave us all cars. Sheesh.

Sad!! I like I said earlier, the only way I'd own anything Ford now is if were given to me. Then within 24 hours, or less, depending on how long it takes to get a for sale sign, it would be up for sale. IMO the early adopters, AKA unpaid Beta testers, [current owners or soon to buy] are going to have their hands full. That applies to anything Ford EV.

My BIL bought a beautiful 2019 F-150 4wd with the 3.5 and 10 speed(?) trans. Longer bed. He loves it. I hope it serves him well. I am so surprised and saddened at the Ford quality problems. The F-150 is what I think about when I think of an American car.

We can do the anecdotal thing all day long, but I'm going to continue driving my 11 second daily driver for peanuts, and you're going to continue putting your cell phone in your pocket, aren't you?
Not me, don't need the RF zapping my rear end.

I had an F150 for 5 years. It was insanely reliable. Disappointed by the Lightning issues.

My buddy had a 2018, a 2014, and one prior. After the 2018 he switched to Ram and isn't looking back. Sometimes it can be the luck of the draw I guess.

The Fern Valley Ford plant in Louisville has been shut down for three weeks already and is still shut down due to quality issues with the Ford escape...
