I rented the above for a trip to take the grandson's fishing. It had 30,000+ miles on it when I received it.

I was impressed. Solid feel. Adjustable seating was good.

Two tanks of gas for 900+ miles at 75 mph on average.

Ford done good on this vehicle.

It had the big six cylinder (not sure of its displacement), non-turbocharged, and power was really impressive. Coming off the HWY entrances and getting up to speed was no problem. Passing was a breeze.

Disadvantages:

Headroom. At 6'3", the drivers entrance was bit of a chore, but back entrances ok and rear seating was spacious.

Not much room for fishing poles, but then again, this was not an SUV.

The Mazda 6 is a Ford Fusion re-done.

The only problem with fuel was trying to find any E-85 in Kansas and Missouri.

Here locally, E-85 is available at almost every fuel stop.

I got the best gas mileage with 87 Octane regular with no ethanol.

It was. Not anymore.

The 2012 is the previous generation that was based on the 6. The new ones you're starting to see are indeed not part of platform sharing.
