Ford Focus 2.0 Duratec- oil for track use

2005 Ford Focus track car. Mild mods, cooler t-stat, etc.
120k miles. Runs great and trouble free.

Using M1 (or whatever syn is on sale) 5W30.

Oil temp runs ~250* max

Running larger ph16 sized filter.

Usually 100 minutes of track time at 70*-90* ambient temps

Stay with 5W30? Go up a grade?

If you like Mobil 1 oil, their 0W-40 would be a logical choice, it's already used in Honda race engines (isn't it?)

Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 has HTHS of 3.5 and is A3/B3.

Do you want to avoid the co$t/hassle of Red Line, or Motul 300V?

Nice setup, what tires are you using on those (I'm guessing, since they look like) Sparco Assetto Gara wheels?

I'd go 10w30 for sure. Nice and shear stable and easy to get in any brand.

Its more about whether I need the Redline/Motul stuff or not. Maybe not...

You were right on the wheels; they are one of the lightest wheels I could find that were still reasonably priced.

I was running Firestone Firehawk Indy tires which are sold in the rest of the world as Bridgestone RE003's.
Good tire to learn to drive on.

I now run Toyo R888R's, with 100TW rating.

Castrol 0w30 may still be available at Pep Boys (it's almost a 40)

or a synthetic HDEO 5w30 such as Rotella T6, or the Chevron Delo equivalent

You can always get a used oil analysis done and see

Factory spec is an HTHS 2.7 oil (5w20). Using a 5w30 at HTHS 3.0 is correct already, since going a bit thicker for track use is a good idea. Any 5w30 synthetic on sale is fine here. No need to use an Xw40 in an engine meant to use 5w20. You could use Mobil 1 0w40, but its not needed here.
Also, instead of using a PH16 filter like you say, its a good idea to upgrade to the Fram Ultra XG16.
