Ford edge running warmer than it should

Got a doozy of an issue here. 2007 ford edge 3.5 v6. Water pump failed dumped coolant in the oil etc. water pump and timing kit was replaced engine cleaned out. Couple days later it starts overheating. Fans are working, so I replaced the thermostat with 180 t stat from Napa. Still will get above 230. Flushed the system and refilled it and while driving it stays at 210-225. When you pull over and idle it gets up to 232 fans are working seemingly well. Vent temp for the heat was 138-140. Not all the vents seem to work correctly but the one that does blows hot air. Vehicle passed a block test multiple times, oil is clean no exhaust smoke. Seems to not overheat anymore but definitely runs a higher temp than I think it should. Bled the system of air as well. Not sure where to go from here? If anyone can offer any insight I’d greatly appreciate it.

is it possible the incident caused the head gaskets to let go. we are talking about a 17 year old vehicle.

Have you confirmed the temps with a heat gun at the thermostat housing? What is the temp at the top and bottom of the radiator?
Radiator is hard to get to, to temp check but the spots I can get to everything seems ok and that it’s working

Possibly but I have no signs, block test passed, no tailpipe smoke, no oil contamination.

Nope looks clear
You cannot go by looks. Ford Taurus/Sable of the late 90s were bad for this. Twin fans close to the radiator with a shallow fan shroud and when you took everything out only the area directly behind the fans was really clear.

Have you verified proper flow through the system?

Is there large air bubbles in the degas bottle ?

Does this thermostat have a vent hole that has to go in a particular orientation? This happened to me on our 04 Escape with the 3.0L engine, the vent hole had to be pointing up (horizontal housing) and it wasn't, had all sorts of temp problems until I figured that out.
Stat was replaced as part of a water pump and belt replacement.

Have you verified actual temps with a scan tool @Orangepeel ? Also, get a genuine Ford stat.
Yes I have. I think where I am at is poor coolant flow. I’ve flushed it 3 times and it’s gotten better but likely needs a radiator. I’ve also found the passenger side fan doesn’t always go to high when it should.

Ok, I would look at the schematics to see what triggers HIGH for the passenger side fan @Orangepeel . That should provide a significant benefit, IMO. Also, please change the thermostat to a genuine Ford one; keep us posted.
