While some may be greedy there are literally millions of folks paid by commissions that do not fall under your extremely prejudicial statement.

Commission pay is an excellent system if structured properly. Earn only if you produce. This would certainly put MANY folks out of work quickly if their performance was carefully quantified and they were only paid what they actually created/earned.

What you cannot blame them for is the ridiculous way the car dealer structured the payroll...

I used to think that none of these mattered, until I bought a new Ranger pickup in March, 2005.
I bought a new leftover 2004 at a larger Ford store at a much better price than I could buy the truck used.
Got into the office and dealt with the biggest horses rump that I have ever dealt with in my life. It almost came to blows between us. If it hadn't been for the almost 10K that I negotiated off the sticker, I would have walked. We finished the transaction and I went to leave.
Bad news must have travelled fast because I was met by the GM of the dealership at the door, who was concerned that I was not going to give them a five. I told him that he was lucky that I completed the deal at all.
His next question is "What is it going to take to get a five on the survey?" I told him a brand new bedliner free of charge. His response was to give him 20 minutes and he brought the truck back with one installed.
I found out later through another source. that Ford was all over the dealership because of their low customer service ratings, and that they were told by the zone rep that they needed to improve.
I gave them their "Five" and have never returned to that dealer again.
