Ford Coyote Filter Recommendation

It seems like every filter has issues these days. The FL-500-S has random glue clumps, the Purolator has tearing media, M1-212A has the same issue. Surprisingly, folks seem keen on Fram these days...

How is the new Ford filter NU2Z-6731-F?

What's the recommended filter?
(I don't care about the price as long as it's under $20)

The purolator boss is a better filter than the other ones they make that have torn before but I think it's been fixed on all of them by now. The synthetic media and mesh backing on the boss has yet to fail. The premium guard extended life and micro guard select filters are good and aren't known to tear. Fram endurance is great but they could be leaking a bit from the bypass spring.

This looks to be the beginnings of yet another great Purolator vs. Fram thread, starting off with how it’s “surprising” that folks are keen on Fram these days.

Thanks all; I'll give the Carquest Premium 84502 a try. They're the easiest for me to source on my way home from work.

New here? Fram has been bought out & cheapened their products at a higher cost. It's lost it's most die hard fans (including me).

I was never much of a Fram guy, I always preferred Wix, but here we are.

I would personally skip it if R.o.C made. regardless of how pretty. I had one on my Ford for a couple days, it leaked out of the fancy red gasket. Odd. I tried recently "forum favourites" just to see if my choices were off-base for my vehicle. Nope. No more M1 or Carquest.
Back to QS FS and Motorcraft.

'Stang or Truck? Are you rowing a glass China six speed MT?

Your mileage may vary this combo might work for you. Have fun with the 'yote

Purolator Boss or One filter. Excellent quality and no leaking past the bypass valve. Premium Guard, Select or CarQuest are decent filters too.

You could always go with the Motorcraft 820. Fits, I think it has a touch more filter surface area and a higher bypass pressure.
The FL820 has torn more than any other Purolator made Motorcraft. I think the FL500 has a higher bypass setting (~17 PSI) than the FL820. Info was right from a Purolator Project Engineer (see below).

clumps of glue wont make it through the media;)

I would have never imagined these things could happen
It can happen, especially if that sloppy loose glue is on the end cap right next to the bypass valve, which has shown to exist in some cut opens of these filters. Some people even find some of the dislodged glue in the drain pan, which means it had to have gone through the filter bypass valve in order to get in the oil pan.
