Ford Considering Scrapping Lightning

They can't afford to carry something that loses money. Cut it and move on, that's business.
I've always thought that was weird. Unless parts are still high shouldn't Ford know what their cost is? Shouldn't they be able to make money on it? Teslas ridiculous Cybertruck is a moneypit on their bottom line as well. Tesla has spent over 5 Billion on the Cybertruck and has managed to move about 50,000 units total.

Seems really short sighted of them if they truly do cut it. We all know its not the right vehicle for all applications but it definitely has it's place.
What exactly is “its place”? Being a $90k tow vehicle to move your 3-person pop-up trailer to the other side of the campground after you tow it there with your gas truck, and then put it back on the charger?

Some EVs can make better sense than an ICE for certain use cases and users, especially when that’s confined to a single metro area. Replacing a half-ton truck that’s used for actual half-ton truck stuff over a large geographical anrea isn’t an area where EVs are competitive yet.

Perpetuating uncompetitive models simply blocks the way for the necessity of more innovation.

Speculation - the majority of Ford Lightning were sold to the Federal Government. Consumers purchase of Ford Lightning were slim to none.

With the Federal Government reportedly making purchase decisions based on economics at this time, it is reasonable to assume the Ford Lightning is no longer the darling on the GSO vehicle list.

I'm seeing a lot of pushback on that forced nonsense!

When someone lives in their little "bubble" and an electric vehicle fulfills their needs, they believe that it should work for "EVERYONE."

Just my opinion. The market seems to be reflecting a sales loss commensurate with gov't pressures/incentives. Meaning, EV's are finding fair market equilibrium. Some, like the Lightning will fade away while others will continue to sell to those whom they work for. Kinda the way it's supposed to be...
