Ford 10R80 transmission trash can issues

I really like their 8L90 Pulse Damper delete kit.

I've seen the Nate dude talk about those as if the pulse dampers are death to transmissions, I never quite understood it. Would you break it down in plain English why they're bad? Does it have to do with apply times? IE you have to push more fluid to apply the clutches, taking longer and creating more slip/heat? Really trying to understand what they do and why it is so good to get rid of them.

Yes.

The only thing you can really do is frequent fluid changes to keep the valve body in good shape. Other than that, there's not much else.

Plenty of people supplement with LG Platinum, me included, as it seems to help keep the valve body functioning properly.

GM dealer did BG swap today @ 33k - flush + 12 quarts dexron on the bill … They have set the 10L TCM in surveillance mode - if pressure is outside of threshold - it would move into L5 mode for getting it to the dealer for a valve body replacement …

They wear out & cause circuit leaks, They act as a shock absorber (Hence the name damper) in whatever circuit they're in.

The 10 speeds only have 2 (EPC & TCC), While the 8L90 has 7....For every clutch & the TCC.

From the data I've collected on the 10 speed which is no where near what I have on the 8L90....The Pulse Dampers don't wear like they do on the 8L90.

Nate comes across as pompous to me as well & he needs to do more R&D on his 10 speed kit!

Chevy has the same transmission 10L80.

Not entirely the same. Lots of parts will interchange though.

Is it not 98% the same? Ford and Chevy supposedly designed the transmission together. That’s what I have always read and seen and videos. Can you please explain it if I am wrong.

I believe the control software and valve bodies are different.

On the GM version there's a step in the CDF bushing bore that prevents the "bushing walk" problem that Ford had in their early versions. Not sure how many other subtle differences there are.
