Hi everyone I was hoping to get some direction here. My wife has an 07 ford freestyle and Im hoping to change out her coolant this summer. The current coolant seems to be fords yellow G-05 coolant. Do you think I could switch this out completely with a dexcool brand, namely Peak all makes all models. I would like to choose a dexcool because you can find it everywhere. Do you think I would be hurting the system using this coolant instead of a G-05 coolant.
Thanks.

The Freestyle has not been tested by Ford for use with DexCool. Why risk a problem? G-05 is an excellent coolant and is only a few bucks more per gallon then a Dexclone. I get Motorcraft Gold at my local Ford dealer for about $14/gallon.

You're better off staying with the G-05. It's not like you have to change the antifreeze regularly where it could become inconvenient.

if you go to like autozone, all they have is dexcool and "universal" which we know isn't and the house brand which is a green.
they don't anything above this and the reasoning is they believe prestone's claim of a mixing of all makes all models.

Stay with G-05. NAPA carries Zerex G-05. Were I to have a car that came from the factory with DexCool, I would use a real DexCool, not an all makes/all models.

All makes/all models = Jack of all trades, master of none.

Alright, It seems like everyone agrees to that I should keep using G-05. I will try to find a napa nearby and see if they stock it. If they dont ill buy some from the ford dealer.
Thank you everyone.
