Getting back to the original point in this thread, you can't really judge an oil by its printed property values. They may change radically when the engine is run ... especially at high RPMs. Some VII are designed to shear down quickly making some 5W30s into 5W20s after just 1,000 miles.
Also, additive packages tend to make or break oils. Moly is a good thing ... and more and more companies are using this. Valvoline is the latest to come into the fold but I'm sure there are plnety of (indifferent quality) batches of oil still on the shelves across North America.
So, what would I use in that car of your in Texas? Red Line 10W30 for intervals 5,000 miles and over. Very, very stable.
If you want to go with short intervals (less than 4,000 miles), use Schaeffer Supreme 7000 (synthetic blend) in 10W30.
