Flying with Firearms.

TSA regulations say that only you can have the key to the lock. That is why you wait to have the TSA clear you before you go to the boarding gate. My Tuffpak has a coke machine type key. I have this statement pop rivited to my guncase. So far, in over 20 years flying- i have never been called.

That's smart. They took my number down but never called. The TSA regs are interesting - "Only the passenger should retain the key or combination to the lock unless TSA personnel request the key to open the firearm container to ensure compliance with TSA regulations. You may use any brand or type of lock to secure your firearm case, including TSA-recognized locks." So that is interesting and a cause for confusion - what is a TSA-recognized lock? Using a TSA lock immediately negates the previous statement that you be the only one to have a key.
