Flushing oil vs flush additives

I tried to find any information on this topic on the internet or on the manufacturer's sites but couldn't find anything. First of all it is worth mentioning I don't see any flushing oil in stores in Canada. Just additives which you need to add to oil. In other countries they sell flushing oil. This is one mystery. Another mystery is that there is no information what flushing oil is. Is it a hydraulic oil? Or a motor oil mixed with some additives, similar to what you get by adding an additive by yourself?

Flushing oil? just buy some diesel fuel and add 1.5 litres to the engine, run for 20-30 minutes before you drain, change filter and refill with normal engine oil.

Years ago in Europe they sold storage oil for engines that were stored over a season like bikes, those day are long gone along with flushing oils. I think the last time I saw it was around 1993 at Hein Gericke. what are you trying to accomplish? Sludge, varnish? Do not do things like this as preventive maintenance.

A flush additive has the chance to loosen a chunk of sludge and that chunk could clog the oil draining back to the oil pan.

Have you pulled a valve cover to see what the condition is? That should be done before you go out and try to flush the engine.

Using synthetic oil with a low OCI will clean up an engine. Nothing is overnight.

It would help if you stated the engine, miles, and year of the vehicle. I would do as others stated and use a synthetic and change it often as well as the filter. I would probably use a 0-20 however it's had to guess because you didn't state the application.
