Flip Phone For Seniors

My mother, who turned 84 today, has an iPhone 12. (It was her birthday present last year.).
She FaceTimes with Grandkids, makes regular calls, and checks in for flights with it. She even joined a Zoom call last year on her iPad (also, a present from me).
Depends on the senior. My mom isn’t tech-savvy, but she can handle an iPhone and use it for a variety of purposes.

My mother just got the basic flip phone from Consumer Cellular with the $20 month plan that includes 1gb data. She doesn’t use data much at all so that’s more than enough for her.
I tried to get her to learn how to use an iPhone but after I saw the trouble she was having with the new cordless landline phone, I gave up. It was hopeless.

My Dad, who is completely tech illiterate, has a flip Tracfone.
Perfect fit for his needs…
$100 for a year of service, and if you look, there are codes to add extra minutes of talk time on the web…

My dad doesn't know how to type or use a desktop computer but he's basically a power user on his android phone.
I know a few people that still used flip phones. I think for some, it is a statement of rebellion, partly against smart phone technology, but more against what the smart phone represents, to them at least.
For one guy in particular, he thinks people that use smart phones become engrossed in the phone, and lose track of the world around them. He despises going to a family function, only to see everyone with their face buried in their smart phone. He wants no part of that. For another, the flip phone represents simplicity. All he does is phone calls. No social media. No navigation. No texting. No searching for somewhere to eat. Just a phone. That is all he wants from it.
You won't find a more reasonable plan than www.tello.com. They have one flip phone option. Depending on if you want data or not it can be under $10 a month.
It's not the phones fault. Think about it....
I have a Star Trek Communicator, the first flip phone. It can text and skype with Capt. Kirk, Scotty, Spock and Bones even when they are exploring new universes. iphone can't do that.
The small size of a flip phone is handy when working in the woods or away from home.
And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. People need to stop being so judgmental.
The apps that run on the phone even up to including the color scheme are meant to drive engagement similar to an addictive substance.

Phone interactions especially within youth modify the brain and in some cases are just as bad as an addictive substance.
Your assumption is similar to telling kids they will get hairy knuckles, go blind.
Just as effective as the abstinence only programs we all have heard about.
Check your carrier's site and see what they offer
