Used this as an external spin on transmission filter.

Here’s a couple pics:

Throw some magnets in there and you'll get to see how much material the filter misses. Looks like a good filter!
I’m pretty sure the Fleetguard & Donaldson are the same filter with either shared media or very similar media. Both made in Mexico & look identical when cut open. They’re both rated around 20-22 micron.

Maybe I’ll look on amazon for some magnets to play around with. Feel free to link some if you know of any. Only issue is space between the filter and frame as well as needing to get my filter wrench around the base. Don’t think I have room for the ring type magnets Ive seen before

I just throw the magnets down the center tube or on the top plate if there's room. Just like the magnets in your transmission, they work better when they're IN the fluid than when outside.

Power steering, coolant, transmission, diffs, transfer cases, engine oil ... magnets.... everywhere!

I’ve never used them. Have another Donaldson filter for the next drain/fill. Will browse for some

Saw those exact ones when I did a search. Figured I’d ask if people had their preferences.
Get Neodymium. Your filter configuration and location will determine what size will work best in terms of mounting them.

Ordered the bars posted above.

They’ll go along the exterior on one side of the filter. I can only fit the metal band of my filter wrench between the filter and the frame.

Here’s a couple pics of the original install:
