Fleet Guard/John Deere filters?

I was online browsing the John Deere parts cat. pricing a new set of air filters for my Deere. The cat. had lots of pictures, graphs, test results and commentary comparing JD, WIX, Purolator, NAPA and Fram filters.

I discovered JD now sells automotive and light truck filters.

While at the parts counter picking up my tractor filters the parts guy said most JD filters are made by Fleet Guard and they make excellent filters.

Having a new filter source to investigate I've inquired with JD concerning Beta ratings, burst, bubble, low temp flow and capacity test results on the automotive filters. They print these tests results on the tractor filters they sell so mayby they will do so on the automotive ones.

If I get the information I'll publish here so someone can tell me what I'm looking at.

In the mean time does anyone have experiences with Fleet Guard filters?
 
Hi Neil,
Fleetguard is an old company. All full flow filters are similar. They remove the big stuff and allow the small stuff to build up in the oil causing wear until you drain it. The big filters you see bolted to the side of many trucks may have Lubrafiners or Peterbilt written on them but the cartridge inside may be a Wix, Fleetguard or a few others. They are usually a perforated can packed with shredded newspapers.
I am a dealer of submicronic bypass filters.

Abstract:
According to some estimates, 60% of the potential causes of engine wear and failure can be eliminated by a well-designed and properly applied filtration system. Cummins Engine Co. recommends that both a bypass filter and a full-flow filter be used. A bypass filter shunts 10% of the total oil pump output through a filter and then back to the sump, bypassing the engine. Because this filter has high-pressure differential and low flow rate, it can filter out fine particles in the 5-micron range. In contrast, a full-flow filter has a low-pressure differential and filters out only large particles in the 40 micron to 60 micron range. However, the full-flow filter is located so that all of the oil must flow through it before reaching the bearings. The combination of these 2 filter types gives double protection against wear. Studies at the Cummins Technical Center indicate that wear can be reduced up to 91% by using a bypass filter in combination with a full-flow filter."
