Nope ... way too many Motorcraft filters exhibit this issue. Is there any chance that this stuff is really from a different part of the engine and was filtered out by the filter?

No chance. But I do appreciate a healthy skepticism when reports like this are made.Is there any chance that this stuff is really from a different part of the engine and was filtered out by the filter?
And it's been going on for a while now - 1st video from June 2023 and 2nd video from Feb 2023.Nope ... way too many Motorcraft filters exhibit this issue.
Smart move ... I did the same.
What was the date code on that FL500S?
So we went from Tear-o-Lator to Glue-o-Lator?Nope ... way too many Motorcraft filters exhibit this issue.
The choice of oil filter is more important than ever now that so many brands have cheapened their filters and added sloppy quality assurance and inherent defects (leaks). It's reaching a point where engines are put at risk.Excess glue breaking loose is not a good thing. It can easily make it through the bypass valve and into the engine. Thanks for the c&p!
Great pics thanks. The glue is 100% getting through the bypass and into the engine….Hey @TheOilWizard. I hope you don’t mind me hijacking your thread for a minute. Adding my pics as well. Most concerning is the loose glue up near the bypass valve area and inside (clean side) of the tube. On a positive note, at least the louvers looked good. Absolutely done with Motorcraft. I realize if this was a huge issue, there would be 5.0 engines, as well as others, dropping left and right. That’s not the point. This is unacceptable. I shot a quick 10 sec. vid of how easy the glue comes of but apparently I need to do my homework on how to upload it.

What I'd worry about is that debris getting into and blocking VCT screens and similar. Note the talk at time 0:35 regarding debris from the oil filter (torn media, and this crap glue coming off would also be a concerned).Absolutely done with Motorcraft. I realize if this was a huge issue, there would be 5.0 engines, as well as others, dropping left and right. That’s not the point.
Some have reported finding some of that glue in their drain pan too when doing an oil change, so that means it had to go through the bypass valve at some point.Seeing the sloppy glue on these MC filters had me concerned about bypass events. Not from excess delta p from filter loading, but from that initial start up with the oil being thicker. Albeit the bypass event is typically quick and short, it’s a bypass event nonetheless.
The Carquest Premium for the Coyote is the same guts as the MicroGard Select. Both made by Premium Guard. Thanks @MrCoyote.
Been looking at those as well based on recommendations here. Next oil change I’ll probably try one. Using Carquest Premium (Vietnam) right now.
