As promised, below is the Motorcraft FL500s off my Mustang Mach1, 5k OCI. A couple of weeks ago I posted pictures of a FL910s with excess glue in the filter, and it appears the FL500s suffers from the same issue.

Upon seeing this, I threw my remaining FL500's in the trash and picked up some MicroGard Select filters from Orileys.

Honestly, it's disappointing to see this from a brand I relied on for so many years.

While I was checking out at Orileys, the employee working the counter asked, "would you prefer the Motorcraft OEM instead?" .. This opened an opportunity for me to show him these pictures. He either still works at or used to work at a Ford dealership selling parts, so he seemed genuinely taken back by the quality. I should have told him about BITOG :ROFLMAO:

you know regardless of purolator vs fram vs everything else, it is sad that we can’t get a well made/well rounded USA filter from M+H or First brands.

all we need is an E core, metal backed dual layer synthetic media filter, 99% at >20um and a silicone ADBV. i’d happily pay $15 a filter for this.
Me too

At this point, I just want something that doesn't shed debris. As I've stated long ago, a filter is supposed to capture debris, not create them.

Nice photos. The lady would murder me if I was near the kitchen table with an oily filter.

Might be interesting to see what the new ones look like for glue slop. The problem with these Motorcrafts is the glue is crap, and comes loose way too easily.

Cut mine open yesterday after changing oil in the coyote. Unfortunately, my filter looked exactly like yours- lots of loose glue, some even up near the bypass valve. Switching over to Carquest Premium based on the numerous positive reviews and quality images I’ve seen here.

^^^ Good move, Motorcrafts are junk now. Not worth the risk.

What was the date code on yours @CKolo?

I'd not be happy about seeing that glue job either & more of the same on these MC filters. Thanks for posting.

I don’t believe so. If I’m not mistaken, the ‘yotes use a small dab of RTV at the front cover to cylinder head joint. Not sure if they use dabs at the front cover to oil pan joint( I would think they would). Excess RTV typically, and I emphasize typically, in my career is stopped at the pickup strainer. You’ll see mine when I take pics Monday. Maybe a short 10-15 sec vid of how easily the glue peels off.
