FL State Trooper arrests cop for reckless driving

First time I hear of "a cop in his patrol car arrested for reckless driving".

Cops think that they are above the laws, and no other cop will ever arrest him/her in a patrol car. Good for FHP trooper for doing her job.
 
You know, this guy is far from alone, how about Randy Pennington of the Toledo, Washington police department. He seems to think his siren and lights are for commuting, among other offenses.

Doing 120 off duty, on the way to a school no less. Jeez,would some overheads and turn signals be too much to ask? Also a complete failure to yield to the Trooper. I think she did a great job!

Blue lights? Nope, not pulling over. Hey, she's changing lanes with me, hmm. Horn? Nope. Siren? Nope. Spotlight? Nope.
 
Good for the trooper! I hate it when cops think it's okay to hold themselves to a lower standard than the rest of society.

As for the LAPD officer breaking into houses...I hope those rich people get him good in court and wreck the rest of his life. Pure scum.
 
This might come to a shock to some of you here but I was at a coffee shop in Miami Beach earlier today where ALOT of Leos and Tow Truck Drivers hang out..They ALL said Trooper Watts did the WRONG thing..They said a Leo should never stop another Leo no matter what they are doing wrong..They also said her pulling her gun out at him and putting him in handcuffs was definitely the wrong thing as speeding [down here in the jungle anyway] in not a arrestable offense..

They also said the Leo was stopped in South Broward..They said if the Miami Leo did not stop for the State Trooper in South Broward and kept going till he went into Miami-Dade County [just a few miles ahead] there is no way the State Trooper would have gotten away doing what she did.

They also said her life as a State Trooper is going to be a Living Nightmare from here on in.

Mind you this is what the Leos said not me.

That interesting. I guess the other LEO were talking about "professional courtesy" where they each cover each other. In most states, not sure about Florida, the Highway Patrol or State Police have jurisdiction over county officers.

I'm glad the trooper busted him, but I agree she may have a tough career for herself here on out.
 
Most cops I see on the road never signal when they change lanes, which really annoys the heck out of me. I mean, THEY are supposed to set an example for US!

Yes that is exactly what some of them said.
 
FHP has no courtesy. They're no-nonsense and I'm not shocked by the video at all.

Pulling the gun wasn't the brightest move, though. Did she really expect to have to defend herself with it? OTOH, she knew he was armed, so I'm on the fence.

Doing 120MPH may not be the arrestable offense - it was probably the wreckless driving.
 
I don't have a problem with some professional courtesy. No doubt there needs to be some slack in the system to allow for some judgement. However, if the "off duty" officer really was doing 120 and driving recklessly, then he lost the right to recieving professional courtesy.

On drawing her weapon, how was she to know that the actuall officer was behind the wheel and not some nut who had taken a sqaud car for a joy ride? She did what she needed to do for her safety.
 
She drew her weapon before she realized there was a uniformed officer in the vehicle. Once she saw he was an officer, it appeared to me she holstered her weapon.
Honestly, the arrest seemed a bit much considering he was an officer. Surely she should have issued a ticket, and perhaps filed a formal complaint of sorts...but putting cuffs on the guy? I'm not even sure a civilian would have received that kind of treatment in my area.

If she didn't have a reputation before, she'll certainly have one now. Probably time to put in for a transfer to internal affairs. :p.
