I have 2 cracks in plastic i would like to fix. 1st, is in the interior somewhere on one of the panels. It is a small crack where the piece broke into 2. I have tried Plastic epoxy as well as jbweld, both cracked soon after again. I applied the products right too. Roughed up, cleaned with acetone, applied to both surfaces, held together for 24 hours untouched.

I also have small cracks all the way through my fenders on the bottom. I tried jbweld and it didnt even seem to stick at all. Both crack again.

Is there any proper way to fix cracked plastic. I would like to fix my fenders, sand it down and do touch ups.

A plastic welder or soldering iron to melt the plastic together works well on most semi-flexible interior plastics (trim pieces). If you are careful it is darned hard to tell there was ever a break in the first place.

ABS/PVC plastic pipe cement, available in the plumbing section, works well because most interior automotive plastic is ABS.

I used this stuff to cement the plastic screw hole piece for the dashboard dimmer control in place after I somehow broke it off while replacing the control.(The piece which broke off sticks out of the back of the plastic panel and has a hole to accept the screw. It broke right off the back of the panel).

It worked quite well. It is as good as new. The only thing is you have to keep the plastic pieces in place long enough for the cement to completely dry, which can take up to 24 hours.

You can test if it'll work by putting some cement on a white paper towel and rubbing it on the plastic in an inconspicous area. If you get some of the color of the plastic on the towel, it will work.

Household Goop should work if you can apply it to the back side where you won't see it (or to the front side if like me, you don't care what it looks like

).
