I'm curious since you did a complete cooling system cleaning/exchange and then used SLL pink premix, did you find and use block drains in addition to the radiator d&f? Are the block drains easy to find and access in 09 Tacoma? I assume you did since I saw no mention of more radiator d&fs with AF, after the one fill.

Just wanted to make it clear in case someone reading thinks SLL premix or any premix can be used after distilled flush series without accessing block drains or multiple premix AF radiator d&f's after the distilled flush series.

Keep using Toyota coolant. It's proven.

I agree, with that kind of service history drain and refill the radiator with the proper coolant mix and call it a day. I did my 08 Liberty over the weekend, which has a 5 year 150,000 coolant interval. This was the second time, the cooling system was spotless. I drained the radiator, refilled it with a 50/50 mix of G-05 coolant and distilled water, burped it and had a beer.

I did use the block drains, 1 on each side. Toyota did that part well on this V6 block; passenger side is on the rear part and easy to see, driver's side is on the front part of the block and is a little bit of an adventure through the wheel well but can be worked with. There is a brass colored 10mm plug to open each and a semi-curved nipple the coolant drains from. I used clear 3/8" ID hose and drained into an old milk jug to take to recycle. I dumped the water rinses in a 5 gallon bucket. The driver's side needed a couple of long extensions and a universal to get on it, forgot to mention that. I have the OEM service manuals, I can scan the page with the block drain drawing if someone needs it.

Thanks for getting back. Yeah, I figured you had accessed block drains by your post. In a vehicle like the Civic the one block drain is directly above the oil filter on the fire wall side of engine, in other words a pita. So when I had to use Honda Type2 premix after dealer used original green with head gasket job I just did some extra rad d&fs with Type2 to reach 50% AF concentration. Somewhat wasteful yes, but as the dealer supplied the AF because I complained, I could live with it.

Also why besides not paying for half water, using a full strength AF for a complete system exchange if desired, is much more preferable. However aside from full strength PepBoys OEM brand Asian AF, tough to find. And why many just do simple radiator d&fs with the premix.
