First oil change, 2012 Subaru Legacy 2.5i.

Good news on the oil filter front: Wix just introduced a new oil filter for Subaru that supercedes their old 51365 part number. The new filter is 57712 and features the correct OEM bypass valve pressure spec of 23psi. Even better news, is rumor has it that NAPA going to put their NAPA Gold (Wix) filters on sale February 20 - 24th for 40% off!

looking at the recent PQIA test data for PEAK oils, they are rather impressive-nice add packs.
I selected it as a flush oil after head gasket repair---before I knew it was that good of an oil
I would keep on using it- it's SN and GF5---may be the next sleeper oil

Nice new EJ253... love it. Won't be long before it's gone.

I've got close to 70k on mine and it runs strong, pulling a camper with our family on adventures every summer.

Do the regular maintenance. Change your rear diff and transmission fluid more often than the manual states and enjoy!

The later EJ253's with the improved head gasket are basically bullet proof work horses.

I changed the oil on my 2012 Legacy yesterday...what a pain to remove that plastic belly pan. The filter that was on it was ready to fall off, it was leaking and dripping on that belly pan.

I used the new Wix filter #57712 and some 10w30 HDEO that I had sitting around...so far so good. 4.5 quarts seems to be about perfect.
