Looking at a $300 11" with A16 chip. Is this a decent iPad? Or do I need to spend more $$ to get a decent iPad?

Initially I will use it to remotely run a Yamaha TF1. But after that I am not sure what I will use it for.

When the wife hands me her iPad or even her iPhone I'm completely at a loss as to how to use it. For android users the i stuff is alien technology.

I've had iPads forever, and no one ever called me an Apple guy. I currently have the Mini, which is so darn portable.
When you pay the Apple price, you are getting quality.

The A16 model will be great. Perhaps go to an Apple store; they are very helpful. Plus they offer free training by a wack millennial with tattoos, blue-purple hair and piercings. But no worries, he/she will not look down on you.

I use my IPad Pro almost exclusively. I have laptops, desktops and a MacBook but the IPad is used more than all of them. It is small enough to carry with me and I have cell service so I can access internet everywhere I go. Since my eyesight gets worse as I grow older, it is easier to read on.

Go look at them in person. There are sooooo many models, different generations still available, different CPU generations, and so on, plus the different sizes and weights. Some are large enough that they're not ideal for being held with one hand while you use the other hand to use it. I think even the smallest one has a screen with high enough quality and resolution that you won't have trouble seeing it.

They are pretty good and fast, we use them on prod floor, issuing them to staff who need a handheld and move around like QC and maintenance guys mostly. Used Android tablets in the past years ago but they were much slower at same price point.
To learn the iPad one needs to go into learning mode rather than rejection one.

I'm on like my third, but I only do simple web browsing on mine. But I've found that about 5 years is all I can expect. Battery life gets poor and it gets slow. I'm starting to think about trading my iDevices at about this point in time for whatever is newest and cheapest. YMMV but figured I'd point this out.

I like to surf the apple news at breakfast and dinner (and whenever) and watch youtube on it. I hate typing on it and basically avoid BITOG et al when using the iPad. I'd rather have a real computer for that--but you can absolutely surf various forums and make postings with it.

Can be nice to pop it into one of those folding covers then select a youtube video while doing dishes. Or have a pdf of how to work on your car on it, whatever task is needed at hand. I've thought about getting an apple pen (pencil?) so I could markup on pdf's and make notes but haven't gotten that far yet.
