First HDEO oil you used?

Circa 1976 - John Deere SAE30, we ran it in everything until 15w-40 came to be more accepted. I remember starting diesel tractors with SAE30 when it was below zero. Block heaters and ether, or they didn't start period.

Want to get cold? Start by draining the batteries trying to get a tractor to start, then getting the drop cords and batter chargers out and hooking everything up at -10°F. About 1985 we built a heated shop that is 60x30. The same tractor (JD 4020) is sitting in the shop today, warm as can be. When you need to move snow, just get in and start it right up! They hydraulic oil is warm and flows nicely, so you can actually get something done. However, it still has the same Hiniker cab, some here will understand what that means :)

That the cab rattling inside is louder than the actual engine? :ROFLMAO: They do keep the snow, rain and wind off ya though.

My first HDEO was Rotella T6 5w40.

Shell Rotella T 15w40 in the Vette and Oldsey.
I don't use it anymore as there are specific oils for 60's high compression V8 engines with flat tappet camshafts.

I tried the 5w-40 T6 when it was all the rage in the Jeep 4.0s. I bought into all the foolishness that the Jeep 4.0s need a high zinc oil to avoid wiping a cam lobe.

It actually made my engine louder.

Delvac 15W-40 in my two 7.3 Powerstrokes, this was in the late 1990s and the 2 F-350s were 1988 and 1989.

Mobil 1 tdt 5w40 for 350z because it was on clearance at advance.
About 10 years ago i think.

Technically the first I've used was the Amsoil Premium Protection 10w40 I put in the generator a few weeks ago.

I'm going to put this Swepco oil in the Silverado this afternoon when I get back from the range. I like the additive package.

For me it was Mobil Delvac ESP 5W40 in my Cummins Ram. Currently I use Mobil Delvac 1300 15W40 and will be using Mystik JT8 15W40 for the next several changes, my stash of Delvac is gone. I just put Blain's F&F Synthetic 5W40 in my LT150. I think I'll be using the F&F 5w40 in all my OPE going forward.

Just my $0.02

What ever oil the truck stops used when changing the oil on my semi back in the 1970s. Most likely Guardol from the Union 76 truck stops

For me, it was 15W40 Chevron Delo 400 for my brand spanking new 1986 Ford F-250HD with a 6.9 International Diesel engine.
