With the recent passing away of my Dad and the subsequent inheritance of his guns, I decided it was high time that I empty my gun safe and record all of the information on all of my guns. I have collected many through the years and just never took the time to record all of the information. It took a bit to put all of it in a spreadsheet, but that mundane task is now completed.
In performing the task, I found the first gun that my Dad ever gave me in the very back of the safe. It was a Harrington & Richardson Topper Model 58 in .410 gauge. It was your quintessential single-shot break-down shotgun from circa 1975. Still in pristine condition with a minimal amount of scratches (I will post a photo later). I can still remember that first squirrel hunt and the smell of the woods on that misty morning.
Now I said all of that to ask, what was the first gun your Dad gave you and was it for a first hunt?
