Firefox help needed - opening links in Outlook

To start: ARGGGGGGH!

I am using Firefox and am trying to enable Outlook Express to open links in Firefox.
Here's what I have done:

1. Selected default browser in Firefox
2. Perused and perused and searched and perused Mozilla forums
3. Ran the SetBrowser utility from pc-tools.com
4. Did numerous Google searches - all of the "fixes" aren't working.
5. Dug through the registry looking for clues as to how Outlook opens links.

I'm using Win98 and Firefox 1.5

Under My Computer/View/Folder Options/File Type and have edited the "URL: Hypertext
Transfer Protocol". This is supposed to control how Outlook opens links, as per MS bulletin.

This is one of the reason I despise MS's biz practices - no other piece of equipment
I have worked with has tried so forcefully to be incompatible with other vendor's
parts. Of course I couldn't get the MS website to work in Firefox either.

Firefox starts from Thunderbird links but I prefer using Outlook.

So, my question: How to get Firefox to open links in Outlook (instead of IE)?

Pretty useless help from Pablo - It's been so long since I used Outlook with FF - but isn't there a setting in Outlook and IE itself you need to change?

I know you mentioned it, but once you tune TB - it can't be beat, especially for multiple email addresses.

There are many link in the file type dialog that point to IE go through and replace all of them with firefox.

I'd go to TB if I could alter the following:

- Alt-S shortcut to Send mail
- Change the goofy stacked To: address line to OE style
- And most important ... my daughter receives emails with MIDI attachments - they don't autoplay in TB. Since it's slowly becoming her computer, this is something I need to pay attention to.

I am running Fx 1.5 under Win98 - so maybe that's the difference. I don't know. ??

I'm running OE as a test on XP with FF 1.5 as the default browser and all links pop-open with FF as expected.
