Finished my stash. What now?

Ok, I exhausted my stash of MC 5w-20 blend, except for one quart for top off if need be. Still have one MC fl-820s filter, and will be using that for next oc.

I love this oil, it's an excellent product for an excellent price, but I'm feeling experimental and want to try something else.

Throw some names at me and tell me what you think I should try in a 5w-20. See sig.

Well since you asked, I currently run Redline 5w30 in my GT. I also use the FL-820S filter. I have used a mobil 1, and K&N filter as well, but with both these filters, I experienced start up rattle, so I switched back to the 820s.

I have run the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 oil as well, very good oil.

The MC oil though for the price, is hard to beat, and will serve you well without issue.

Its all up there in ur head, I hve done this in the past and never could tell the difference on the oils I tried. Its always in our mind that something new will be better, todays oils are really vverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry good. That will be 5 cents, no checks.................lol

Let time decide, wait until you need to do an oil change, then go to the local auto part store and buy whatever semi-synthetic is on sale

Quaker State Q HorsePower 5 Qt. Jog from WalMart. Can't beat the Full Synthetic $18 for 5 Qts. price when the rebates for other oil/deals are not there.

Otherwise, look out for Edge, PP, PP Ultra and other oil change deals-which include filter as well, at your local AutoPart stores.

Having excellent results with Motorcraft 5w-20 (which is NO surprise) but want to change it up??

Some members here state that once you run a brand you should stick to it. (which I think is a joke)

So, since you are running 5w-20 lets get into some scientific data.

What color bottle do you like? Since you've done red, how about green? Blue? White? Silver? Yellow?

Got a coin? Pick two bottles and flip the coin.

Got a favorite letter? Pick the oil brand that comes closest to that letter.

Because the real FACT is any/all the 5w-20 oils out there (conventional, blends and syns) are going to be just perfect in your app following reasonable OCIs.

Being a MC user and fan myself, I have to go with Bill on this one. If you really want to go wild, how about Kendall GT1 with liquid titanium and a Ford Racing filter? That way you can spend more than necessary and keep the money in the Conoco/Ford family. Have fun!

The MC 5w20 blend is about as cheap of a price that you can get. It is 11.50 for 5 qt jug here and I like it better than the regular conventional oils that cost more, If I switched it would be to a synthetic and the reason would be for more protection on startups, a slightly longer draining period also if I switched factor in the cost and if you cant stick to it I wouldn't switch, I would stay with MC blend.

Stay with Motorcraft this is an excellent oil at a great price. At 11.50 for 5 quarts at Walmart its a steal. Valvoline and Havoline both make a great 5w20 but their more money and the Havoline is hard too find.

Try something people on these boards haven't used much! Pennzoil Ultra for all it's hype hasn't been used all that long yet for us to know it well.

Have you checked your local Walmart? I picked up Valvoline Durablend for $1.50 a quart. It's just as good if not better than the MC.

Stick with the MC 5w20. Excellent oil, very inexpensive at Wally's. You found something you like, and it is a great oil, so no reason to change, IMO.

Try either Toyota or Honda 0W20.

I have too much syn and dino in my stash, if I don't have any oil in reserve and I am going to buy oil today I would try these 0W20 in '00 MB E430 for a couple OCI's.

Yes, I know Mobil 1 0W40 is recommended for that car and it had that grade until 2 years ago, it had Pennzoil Platinum 5w20, Mobil 1 0W20 and currently it has Synpower 5W20. The engine is much smoother with thin xW20 oils than the thicker 0W40 at all RPM's. The side benefit is better MPG, about 3-5%, according to trip computer.
