So he may have ordered it but he was getting and LT1 unless it is an LT4 car. Is it a 6 speed with a red intake?

^^^Beat me to that possible explanation.
They were VERY rare cars though, like less than what, 50-100 made??

Mine even has those same wheels on it now for the winter, with the older, BFG Super Sport all seasons on them in the same size as your Comp 2 all seasons.

The only reason I ordered a black car was because that was the ONLY WAY I could have a SOLID color Z28 (same color roof as the rest of the body) save for painting it myself.

I wanted a silver car, but could not STAND it with that Talon/Eclipse type black roof they made you take with it.

My exhaust, (2 1/2" Y-pipe to 3" Intermediate pipe to a 3" Borla, Single 3" out)....Is terrible! It drones at speeds over 65 in OD, The Rasp when getting on it is unbearable, On top of that the differential hits the Intermediate pipe when going over bumps.

Ordered a Hooker Blackheart Dual 2 1/2" exhaust system minus their Mid length headers, I will adapt their system too my Long Tube BBK's

^^^Hahaha, drone can be a terrible thing. It seems especially bad in vehicles with that large piece of glass in the rear, like hatchbacks and wagons.

I wish you luck. The car can be quiet AND quick, but you may have to swap some pieces around. Does that photo suggest a y pipe in there? Those are great for breathing...

Steve: look at the tubes where they merge together, just after the collector- it looks like they are welded there like an "X" pipe.

Is that system ALL stainless (or just the mufflers), and if so, is it 300 or 400 series??

Correction to my post above regarding your tires, as they are NOT the all seasons I stated, but the Comp 2 SUMMER tires (which you stated correctly in your previous post about them), which I also have on my summer wheels in a 255/50-16 size.

Before you do that...try cutting off the end of the tailpipe and adding a cheap glass-pack as a resonator.

It has a X-pipe in it.

The pipes are 409, The Mufflers & Tips are 304, They have a all 304 system for $200 more. This exhaust has only been on the market for a few months, If it was available when I built the car, I probably would have bought it....Maybe not? Not crazy about the Quad tips, I hope they grow on me. I was trying to find a factory SLP '98 SS exhaust with the single outlet, Couldn't find one....

Are your summer rims wider to accept the 255's?

Well, I have 3 issues, Besides the drone, It has a really bad Rasp over 1/2 throttle, And the Differential is hitting the intermediate pipe.

I'm pretty sure the Rasp is from the Y-Pipe Merge (arrow).

The Differential is hitting the exhaust here.

I thought about a resonator, Don't have room/length to put one after the muffler, I have room in the Intermediate pipe under the rear seat.

I will see how the Hooker Blackheart works out, I already ordered it.

I understand what you are saying, If you look at the last pic, I put in a white line right past the 90 degree bend at the very back, There is not much "Length" to work with, A 5-6" resonator would fit...But not sure it would fix both the Rasp & Drone.
It would definitely not fix the differential hitting the exhaust.

Nope, they are the AFS replica 16x8 ZR1/SS style, SS convertible wheels, powder coated in a solid (ALL) competition grey color.

I figure that all of the old CMC (Camaro-Mustang Challenge) road race f bodies used 255/50-16 Toyo RA1s/R888s on the stock size wheels (albeit, YES, they have a much stiffer sidewall than any BFG street tire), so I would be OK.

Besides, there are NO/0/NADA/ZIP affordable 16x9/9.5s/10s to fit these cars, save for the old, early C4 vette 'disc turbine' wheels, which are hard to find, and weight a TON.

There are custom, race wheels (like CCW, Real, etc.) which could be made to order in those sizes, but they start at $600.00 EACH.

At that point I would just go to an 'on the shelf' 18x10/10.5 wheel with a 295/35-18 tire (MANY choices), which will also easily fit over bigger/multi-piston, fixed caliper front brakes if I decide to do that in the future.

Is that an XR1 Borla, or the regular, universal, street muffler?

I ask because I had an XR1 on my current system originally, and it was just TOO D****ED LOUD PERIOD, regardless of drone, resonance, or rasp!!!

I had to change it (or risk losing what little is left of my hearing) out to a LARGE Magnaflow (even though it meant giving up that Borla's 304 stainless for the Magnaflow's 400 series

) in order to be able to drive the car for more than a minute (and this is with STOCK exhaust manifolds and functioning, stock type/location catcons!!!).

It looks like you have room for a Thrush. Could you bend things a bit so the muffler clears the pumpkin?

No, It's thier quieter "S" series muffler, I took it off a wreaked '98 Trans Am that had a Borla Cat-Back....The Muffler was the ONLY good exhaust part left without any damage, Even the Hooker Super Comps got bent, Got my Posi, Trans cooler lines & Trans crossmember from the same car.

A pic of the car, BTW the girl that was driving the car walked away with a broken wrist & a hurt ego...

Thanks for the help! Yeah, I could add a resonator, Bending the pipe would throw everything off after where it is hitting (right axle tube), It would take cutting & welding to fix it.

I literally threw the exhaust together to get the car back home, Doing everything else correctly took more time than I allotted, Every minute my car took up space on that lift cost me money, I had good money making jobs lined up.

The Hooker system is true dual exhaust, which is something I wanted anyway, I listened to several sound clips online
