I have about 13.5q of Green GC sitting here. It's M04, getting to the point I have to use it up, and I finally have an app for it...the Astra!

I noticed when I added a bunch of SynPower Oil Treat to the engine it really smoothed it out (under 1000 miles) and that got me thinking this Euro engine (Ecotec 1.8 from Belgium) might like heavier than 10cSt oil, so I'm going to try GC in it. Otherwise, the GC has been sitting here...too good to use in an oil burner and too good to give away. A lot of other oils have come and gone since I bought this stuff.

I only have 2 fills of GC, since it takes 5q, so I might save it for summer duty (6 month ocis). I could use 1 or 2 quarts if anyone wants to part with it.

Since this engine requires a complex valve adjustment, I want to keep the oil situation as good as it can be.

It's good to be back.

fwiw, the other oil I plan on uusing is SL Mobil 1 0w-30, for winters.

I think yer just braggin cuz you have some SynPower Oil Treatment!

Sigh...another silly attempt at using a non-spec oil on a car covered by a warranty....

Check your manual. In N/A applications, your car will require an SM, GF-4 engine oil. GC isn't either of those.

Save the GC until AFTER the warranty!!!

The other cars we have had since 2005/6 have been Hondas, so...yeah.

I actually used some in my RSX, it wasn't that great and I did not run it pask 5k. Our current driving cycle allows 6 month synth ocis that might be as low as 5k miles. I might as well use something interesting if I have to wait 6 months for oil changes.

The relative smoothness might be apparent compared to Mobil 0w-30.

A3 oil in summer, A5 in winter, not too bad a plan, despite some nay-sayers. Euro synth in a car that calls for dino and has an OLM should produce quite a good result and gives us a shot at doing full-length OLM ocis. That would be interesting enough to do a UOA.

Don't get me wrong; GC is a good oil, and will work well in this application.

It's just Saturn, in its transition, doesn't have a lot of spare capital. So they are going to be looking to cut liabilities whereever they can.

You go in for any warranty-related repair, they're looking for ANY reason to not have to pay out. You're handing them one on a silver platter.

Hope your car is reliable!

The last thing Saturn would want to do is drive-off repeat customers. There are a fair number of Saturns still on the road, those owners would be their *prime* target demographic, if it was my call.
