Filter Media Damage- pics only on this one

Moderators PLEASE keep this from being a bash-fest/blame-fest, by ALL parties,

The filter images are in the Misc. Album, all the way at the end. Of course, feel free to view any albums that may interest you.
The only two filters I had on hand was a Fl-400s and a 2009 K&N. Each filter has the same application in my case. Though each filter had only 3,000 miles of use, I did not find any evidence of any problems. There is an explanation below each image. I found to be true what everyone here has said. If you want flow, go K&N. It was readily apparent that there is less media, and thinner material, than the MC filter. Non scientific, nothing fancy, I've seen it with my own eyes, country boy logic!

Doubleclutch, On that motorcraft Fl-400s , I don't see a string or a metal clip. Did this filter have a metal clip on the seam?

No, what you see is what was in the canister. No metal clip on the seam, nor, a string around the media. This Fl-400s was purchased at Wal-Mart just before the filters started disappearing from their shelves.

The motorcraft looks like a better filter then the K&N. There is more media.

How much was the red oil filter cutter in the photos ?? The FL-400 is a better filter for the $$$.

The oil filter cutter was $79.00, including shipping, from Summit Racing Equipment. I called to make sure they had one in stock before I ordered online. The person that aswered the phone went ahead and took my order, said he could get it out faster. Toll free, 1-800-230-3030. Plus, they gave me a $20 coupon to use on a future purchase, and a free? hat. It's one fine tool.

I have a Kubota filter dissected and will post it in my Webshots album Tuesday, May 31st. I'm on vacation next week and will be out of town most of the week.

Thanks on the boat. I like the Ropolene hull a lot better than fiberglass. I don't have to be so careful with it because they can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'! AND, the best part is you don't wax them!!

LT4 Vette - I am thinking you are talking about the boat being built on the Misc. site and not the Triumph boat that I own. That boat is fiberglass that is being rigged. They ran it on a test run and that 500 hp broke the transom up some. They had to go back to the drawing board and fabricate extra material to bolster the transom. I stopped by today and they have installed the new transom and the engines. I'll post more images week after next. It's going to be an awsome piece of equipment....
