Filter Magnet

Been looking at the magnets that go on the outside of a filter cartridge, and hold metal particles to the inside of the case. Wonder how much particles could come off a motor after breakin? I have roller tappets. I can see using something like it for gears, that are always in contact or switched.

I just bought a filtermag made by Magnafine for $40.
It's now installed on my 93 Ranger 4.0L using a Wix 51515.

It's supposed to last 50k, but the guy I talked to said their testing was fine up to 100k at least.
Since I've been using synthetic oil since 50k, I don't see a problem going that far with it.

I didn't put the outside magnet I had on, I'm going to put my heatsink back on it instead and hope the magnet will do it's job.

The strongest magnets I've ever seen are a pair that came out of a scrap hard drive. You cannot pull them apart. They really will hurt you bad if you get a finger in the way. They are amazing, but would not work on a curved surface.
