I have no problem with leaving the fuzz on the oil pan "forever".

There are cheap ones on the market using ceramic or lower quality magnets. The high quality ones use rare earth magnets that easily hold the particles. These guys make industrial mag filters and I've bought their consumer version for cars and trucks www.beartrapfilters.com

Does seem fishy bringing an old thread back from the dead and the only post they have is a link to a product...
With that said, if anyone has a 3D printer you can make these things very cheap and easy.
