Filter flow- burst strenght

I could not find the previous post where 3 gallons per minute was the highest flowing filter
so enter the Fram HP series catch 15 micron particles and are rated at 10 gallons per minute= max operating oil pressure is 200lbs and burst strength up to 500 PSI depending on which motor you have
 
K&Ns are even better, they flow 12-16 GPM and have a burst strength of around 550psi. Overkill yes, but good to have when you're pushing out the power!

Most filters will do the internal crush thing long before 300-400-500 psi....in fact I have never seen an externally blown OF (purely from pressure).

I have seen filters blown/broken from dead motor mounts and I have seen internally crunched OF's - with no outward sign of damage. Usually crappy construction is the cause.

As stated by others - the best thing about a thick carcus is hwy/off road foreign object damage.
