would it be possible to get a sticky with a list of all the oil filters including who makes them and their respective efficiencies?

i know a lot of people come to this forum looking for an oil filter with the best possible filtration, and i don't see anything on this site with that information.

two i know right off the top of my head are the purolators:
pureone - 99.9% efficiency
classic - 97.5% efficiency

That's a great idea since some of these ratings are on here that you can't get without emailing the maker, or physically going out and looking on a filter box.
We have to keep it even though and put the criteria for which it earned the percentage if known, or state unknown if it isn't given. (without getting too technical)
There is already a post with a collection of Betas, but efficiency is easier for most to read and understand.

Example:

PureOne 99.9% at 20 microns (multipass test)

Purolator Classic 97.5% at 20 microns (multipass test)

Ecore (Champ, STP, ValueCraft, Supertech) 94% at 20 microns (multipass test)

Toyota TRD (#PTR43-00080) 98% at 20 microns (test unpsecified)

Mobil 1 Ext...Performance 99.2% (microns unspecified, multipass test)

Bosch Premium 99.9% (nothing else specified)

K&N 99% "of harmful particles" (nothing else specified)

Rousch 99.2% (nothing else specified)

......

Amsoil EaO 98.7% at 15 microns (multipass test)

Fram Extra Guard 95% (microns unspecified, multipass test)

Fram Tough Guard 99% (microns unspecified, multipass test)

Fram Extended Guard 97% (microns unspecified, multipass test)

To clarify on the Purolator spin-ons.

ONLY the following Purolator PureONEs are rated at 99.9% @ 40 microns instead of 20 microns.

PL14477
PL14476
PL14610
PL14612

ONLY the following Purolator Classics are rated at 97.5% @ 40 microns instead of 20 microns.

L14477
L14476
L14610
L14612

These 4 spin-on filter models looked to be the smallest spin-ons that Purolator makes.

Purolator also indicated that ALL their cartridge filters are rated at the above efficiencies at 40 microns - and most cartridge filters are small in physical size like the spin-ons shown above.

99.9% @ 40 microns probably equates to somewhere around 97 ~ 98% @ 20 microns ... at least 95% (Beta 20) at 20 microns I would think.

Ya they must have to put in rougher media to force oil through those thimbles LOL

Either that, or the smaller media size causes more particles to be forced through the media under their standard test conditions due to more PSID with a given set test flow rate.

The size of Purolator's "reference test filter" that they based their efficiency tests on is large ... it's the L & PL 30001.

Could be. It's like a 51515 size, IIRC. (which we both could probably barely fit on our trucks if we cared that much)

For Fleetguard filers:

Cellulose media: 95% 30 micron
Stratapore media: 99% 30 micron, 85% 10 micron
Stacked disc media: 99% 30 micron, 98% 10 micron, 95% 5 micron
stacked disc is only used in bypass filtration

I'm not sure what type of test procedure they use.

The same as Donaldson, except it appears they don't list dual flow-rated numbers; 105lpm and 150lpm.

This was an exact quote (via email) from the Senior Engineer at Purolator about the PureONES ... note the Beta 2 (50% efficient) rating at 5 microns.

"PureOne is 50 % efficient for 5 micron and 99.9 % for 20 micron ratings ... implying Beta = 2 for 5 micron and Beta = 1000 for 20 microns."
