Car is a 2020 Camaro SS 1le. Has a built 427 in it from Katech. 7k RPM, 12.5 CR, 610 rwhp 550 rwtq, sees 4k+ rpm when having some fun and then gets rung out on track, etc etc. I do not have the bearing clearances, but 15w-50/5w-50 is what the car was specced for. Car gets used as borderline daily driver when weather is fair and the car is started to get tracked more often. As far as oil, I have been running Mobil 1 SuperCar 5w-50 for both the track and street. Will most likely make the switch to HPL 5W-50 SuperCar. Have talked to reps from HPL and they are a great company with a top notch product.
It had a UPF64R oil filter but at 35psi, it was the wrong bypass relief pressure. I put a WIX 10290 for the 22 psi bypass pressure and looking all over this forum, and great data/discussions from ZeeOSix, SubieRoo, among others, I have now been overloaded with filter data and have begun to "spiral" on what to run ha.
Im looking at the Fram Endurance, Fram HP18, the Wix 10290 still, and few others with synthetic media for the better filtration efficiency and they also seem to flow better than cellulose media due to material/media structure. Also seeing reports of the cellulose media (PF64) tearing, which in my mind adds to the fact that cellulose media is not as uniform as a synthetic and "pressure follows the path of least resistance" thus creating the tearing.
I like that the Fram endurance has the high flow media, at least that's how it is advertised but when I look up the Fram Endurance, it shows to have a bypass rating of 22-28 psi.
I will say that do change my oil every 3-4k due to the engine getting ran like it does and I run E in the car primarily.
The primary concern of mine is also flow, primarily flow during the extended straights where RPMs stay in the 4-7k range while on track.
Cold, the car always gets warmed up and does not go over 3-4k until oil hits 175-200F.
Opinions and recommendations welcome!
Cheers.
