Filter cutters

Thanks for the tip. Just ordered one, currently has a 5% discount, so price comes out to be $26.75 - $1.34 = $25.41 before tax.
Ya it looks pretty hefty, but when I went on Amazon, it wanted to make it a "subscribe & save" item.... So..... does that mean it won't last? LOL.
I ordered the cheaper one on Amazon, the infamous 77750 model, which has dozens of sellers offering on eBay. $19.89 on Amazon

Should be able to click the "One-time purchase" button. The 77750 cutter should work good too.

Ya, I knew that, I was wondering why it suggested it in the first place 🤣. The 77750 looks like the one I've caught a glimpse of in Whip City Wrencher's (or others') vids.
My screen automatically showed "one-time purchase". Maybe you buy some other stuff on a subscription so it automatically chose that option for you, lol. 🤷‍♂️

Well, I got my $19.89 cutter from Amazon (QHHR brand), it looks pretty good, there are holes to move the rollers closer for smaller filters, though 3" is probably as small as I'll need.

The one problem is the threaded rod is bent. It binds through half of the rotation, the cutter wheel holder rocks side to side, and up & down, the down movement causing the binding. I'm going to return this & see if the replacement they send is any better. In the two side view pics, you can barely see a difference, but it's enough to bind up.

You can probably just remove the threaded rod and bend it back straight. The cutting wheel block can be made tighter by adjusting its retaining screw on the bottom. Tighten it enough to shore up the block, but still allow it to slide in the slot.

So, in the name of science, I have a FRAM Ultra XG2 here with a dent in it that I'm not going to use so I've decided to cut and post. I've previously used a sawsall to cut them open and it's a huge PITA, so I bit the bullet and bought the Proform oil filter cutter tool:

I paid $111 Canadian for it through Amazon, should have it tomorrow.

What is everybody else using to cut their filters?

Hi Overkill,
This is the brand I have. It works very good.

The Longacre brand is like $70-$80 USD wherever I see it. There are a lot of off brands on Amazon & eBay for around $20 USD. They any good? I won’t be cutting a ton of filters but still I want it to work.
Anyone use the cheap ones?
I have this:

Works great. Don't press down too hard at first, gradually increase the cutting edge

If I punch in "genuine longacre" with quotes into Google search, I get zero results.

I also can't find any discussion on the internet anywhere about fake vs real Longacres.

I'm beginning to wonder if there really is a genuine Longacre.

I got this one off eBay about 17yrs ago from a motorcycle shop. Pretty sure it's a one-off, or someone made a batch of them to sell. It's cut open countless filters for me at this point and is still on the original pipe cutter blade.
