This is my brother's new web site; he's trying to market his own line of dog washing machines. He builds them himself at his house in Sacramento, CA. The demonstration dog is a German Shepherd named "Manzo" and the 16 year old girl is my niece named "Geneviev."

What do you guys think? Any suggestions for improving the site?

$14,500....let me think on it. Who maintains the things? One furball dog and massive cloggage. I didn't read the whole site, is there some "lint trap"?

Chancho and Vanilla get bathed in the large bath suite, but we basically line the walls and floor, don the swim trunks and take them in the shower.

Around here, the local coin operated carwashs have a bay dedicated to washing dogs in it.

Its all enclosed with a heated interior, and glass block all around. You take your pooch in there, and close them in a little tub area, and a warm shower with soap comes over them, and washes them off, then drys them with a blower.

Washing German Shepards is bad cause it strips the natural oils off their fur. I've had Shepards all my life.

But I'd throw some mangly little rat dog in that washing machine! Our Petco has a dog wash like that.

It would undercut the groomer by a good bit. We wash our fat beagle in the sink. The Rot-n-Lab is another story. We threw her in the shower once. Otherwise, she's a warm weather shampoo deal ..or the groomer's. The only thing this would add to the owner's list that would normally be included with a groomer trip is the nail clipping. I've found that I tend to cut to the quick more often than not.

Is that how much he's charging for them? I didn't notice a price on the website. He says he trying to sell them to car washes and camp grounds.

$14,500?!

He has got to be kidding...

No ..probably not. It's probably got some high end hard parts. Although the enclosure isn't all that complicated, I don't see one down at The Home Depot. It's like any of that "grade" of stuff. Go try outfitting your backyard with contemporary playground grade fixtures. You'll mortgage your house before you're done. The machinery has to require minimal service or no service for a long time.

..and there's that ROI figure to factor in.

He says the cabinet is custom made out of fiberglass, but all the inside parts - water pump, blower, etc are over the counter from Grainger. I've never seen the machine in person though.

Without some car wash grade system ...with some sensible support network, this can't really be sold beyond his personal reach to service it ...at least with any sensible warranty.

I mean it makes sense from a consumer standpoint to have some setup like that have easily found generic parts. We've all cursed the proprietary hard part that frustrates the cheap fix. But he's not selling to consumers ..and the price would seem not to support just the cabinet as the expensive element. The coin/$ validators aren't cheap ..so that could be a decent amount of that price too.

I made a blender for the hot and cold water going out tp the hose. Warm bath anytime of the year....for the dogs too. Machine is a total skip.

Why, in all your life of having them, haven't you discovered that it's spelled "Shepherds"?

They used to "Herd" hooved animals....
My shepherds would not stand for being washed in any contraption like that. Had to wash them after swimming and getting sandy, etc. but they didn't like it, and they let me know about it.
Worse was the wolfhound. They seem lazy, but they're incredibly strong and can be stubborn. Molly never liked to be bathed and each time it was a rumble.

Why, in all of your life Mark, do you even give half a rat's [censored] that a stranger on an oil message board has misspelled a few words?

Between you, Mori, and Pablo, it's getting down right laughable at this point.

I lyke dose germin shepards ya no.

Then our work is going well.

Yes I made a gripe thread about poor writing skills and I clearly stated it was my own problem. Highly unlikely you'll find a language nanny post of mine following somebody else's khrappily written post....and I certainly don't niggle about spelling on a one by one basis. I just build up a head and blow my top.
